Today’s Top 10 Selling Novels

Top 10 Selling Novels

I love novels! I’m always looking for the next best one. I may not always have time to read it and my most favorite author is Nicholas Sparks (I did a post about him awhile back, which you can find here), but I still love many novels and authors.

Who doesn’t love to cuddle up with a good book, especially in the winter months? Right. Snuggled up with that hot cup of something, nice warm throw blanket. Yeah!!

Whenever I decide to look for a new book I go to Amazon and type in Top 10 Selling Novels. I always get what is selling best at this time.

Well I decided to look for a novel today and here is the top 10 that came up today.

Now I have a problem because there are 7 of these I want today! lol What I like about shopping on Amazon for books, is that almost all come in Kindle form (cheaper) now. If you don’t want kindle form you can get paperback, hard cover, even used in some cases. I did notice on today’s top 10 list that there were a lot of them that were only kindle purchases.

I have always bought paper backs. Who doesn’t love the feel of a book in their hands? However, now the question arises for me, if I buy a kindle, will I save money in the long run? I will have to ponder this for a while, but I already know the answer, haha, yes it will!

10 Sleepy Time Books for Toddler Bedtime

10 Sleepy Time Books for Toddlers

10 Sleepy Time Books for Toddler Bedtime

This post is kind of a follow up to one I wrote a couple of weeks ago, Reading With Young Children, Is It Beneficial? From your comments, I believe it is safe to say, we all agree that it is very beneficial to our little ones. From the encouragement I got from that, I decided to find some favorite stories that I think will be loved by all, parents and children.

So I have taken the time to compile a list of 10, what I call, sleepy time books for toddler bedtime, from Amazon. These books are perfect for snuggles and letting your young one know it’s close to bed time. This seems to be the time of day my 4 year old son wants me to read to him the most. After going to pre-k all day, by 7:30 pm he is so ready for some snuggling and stories.

These are the 10 sleepy time books I felt were perfect for putting your child to bed. Some are best sellers and others are just classic good night books.

  1. If Animals Kissed Goodnight by Ann Whitford Paul
  2. The Going-To-Bed Book by Sandra Boynton
  3. Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown
  4. Pajama Time! by Sandra Boynton
  5. Little Owl’s Night by Divya Srinivasan
  6. It’s Time to Sleep, My Love by Nancy Tillman
  7. Sleepyheads by Sandra J. Howatt
  8. The Goodnight Train by June Sobel
  9. Where Do Diggers Sleep At Night? by Brianna Caplan Sayres
  10. Good Night, Little Bear by Patsy Scary

What do you think of my sleepy time list?

We have a couple of these, Goodnight Moon and The Goodnight Train. I do plan on adding more to his collection, one at a time. Sometimes budget living is for the birds, lol.

Reading With Young Children, Is it Beneficial?

Reading With Young ChildrenHow Important is Reading Time with Young Children?

Do you spend time reading to or with your young children? Research shows there are many benefits of reading with young children, especially between the ages of 2 and 5.

I’ve read many articles on reading with young children since noticing many changes in my son after we started making reading a part of our daily schedule.

My son is in Pre-K and his first award included, you guessed it, a book. I love this program our school has! If you get an award for an accomplishment you also get a book geared towards their reading level. Great way to show how important reading is.

Benefits include but are not limited too:
  • Speech skills
  • More likely to do better in school
  • Understanding basic concepts
  • Communication skills
  • Thinking skills
  • Learning concentration
  • Realizing that reading can be fun
  • And best of all, a stronger relationship with you, aka, snuggle time with mom or dad, one on one time

My son is now 4 and he loves our reading time. We spend about a half hour before bedtime snuggling together on his bed and reading at least 2 books. Right now it is the same 2 books every night (I know every word by heart, lol), but it is helping him remember the words and he is showing word recognition. Awesome!

He chooses the books he wants me to read to him every night, and right now they are:

A Box Can be Many Things

Barnyard Dance

Sometimes when we are reading together he doesn’t seem to be paying attention because he also has to bring a toy to bed with him (it’s the little things, lol). I’ll stop in mid sentence, and by goodness, he’ll finish the sentence! I do try to get him to look at the book with me most of the time so as I’m sliding my finger across the lines as I’m reading, he’ll notice the words I’m reading aloud.

The other benefits I found with reading to my son are:
  • Part of a routine
  • Quiet time
  • Quality time
  • Getting your child calm and relaxed before bed
  • Helps with sleeping

These are benefits from my own personal experience with my son. He loves our reading/snuggle time together just as much as I do! One major thing I noticed since adding our reading time to the bedtime routine, no more “outbreaks” over going to bed! Added bonus for mommy especially after a crazy busy day.

These added benefits may be different for everyone, but overall there are many benefits that go along with reading to young children that are more than brain development.

How important do you feel reading is with your children?

My All-Time Favorite Author, Nicholas Sparks

Cozy Up with a Good Book

Who do you cuddle up with when you get 5 minutes of alone time on a cold winter day or while lazing in the sun on the beach?

For me, it’s Nicholas Sparks! Whenever I get the opportunity, I love to cuddle up with a Nicholas Spark’s book. Whether it’s a cold winter day, sitting on a beach or around a campfire! He is the all-time best author I have found. His stories are full of emotion and inspiration, give hope and so much more.

I have only had the opportunity to read a few of the many he has published, but someday I vow to catch up.

Reading is a way to de-stress and relax and I’m starting to wonder if it’s not becoming a lost activity for many. When I was younger I used to read hours upon hours, then I had children. My reading time became less and less. Oh, how I miss it though!

If only I wasn’t ready to pass out as soon as my head hit the pillow at night! I might actually have more time to read if I could stay awake for 1o minutes.  When you have little ones, trying to juggle the home, work, kids, and everyday life, living in a book even for a few minutes feels heavenly and if it’s a good one, those minutes feel like seconds.

You can find all his books on Amazon, in paperback, kindle edition, and more! And of course I found him on Facebook too! I may not have a ton of time to read right now, but I can keep up to date on what he is working on!
